Review:

I bought a copy of this book after reading a stellar review from Anya at On Starships and Dragonwings. Check out her review. If that doesn’t make you want to read the book, I don’t know what will!

I loved Cracked. The main character, Meda, was such an enjoyable narrator. She was sassy, snarky, and extremely hilarious. Her style of narration had me so entertained and it sucked me into the book immediately. I got used to it, so she wasn’t quite as funny towards the end, but I still totally appreciated the way she saw things.

The adventure was action packed and I really liked the story. I loved how the bad guy was sort of Meda herself. It was a refreshing twist on the paranormal genre with a hilarious narrator who isn’t innocent or sweet. I wanted to know more about her life and why she was part demon and what that meant, so I was invested in her story the entire time. I enjoyed watching her make more connections and figure out who she really was. Her friendships were rocky and weird, but very entertaining. Jo was a tough girl and I kind of loved watching the two of them become friends. The chemistry between Jo and Chi was awesome and also entertaining, as they didn’t really know what to do with each other besides make comments and argue.

I definitely recommend Cracked and I can’t wait to read more of the series. Meda made me laugh out loud so many times, even when her life was in danger. It was so much fun to read, while being mysterious, intriguing, and action packed at the same time.
“And Jo’s so violent and angry, if she had any other career, it could only be at the DMV.”

“I get cranky when I haven’t eaten. You wouldn’t like to see me cranky. ‘Hangry,’ Mom called it – although when she called me that I was too hangry to appreciate her cleverness.”
