Through the Zombie Glass was awesome! It was such a roller coaster of emotions. So much was at stake, everything was crazy and turned upside down and I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be. It was amazing.
I love Ali’s voice. She’s such a strong and determined character. She’s fierce and she is loyal. Watching her spiral out of on control was agonizing. I could not put the book down whenever I had free time to read. I was so anxious about her problem, her relationship, her friendships, and the fate of everything. I didn’t know who or what to trust.
Through the Zombie Glass did not suffer from the dreaded second-book-syndrome at all. I still loved book one, but I think book two was even better. In the first book, I was getting to know Ali and getting introduced to the slayers and the truth of the matter. In book two, however, I was watching all of it kind of fall apart and so it rocked me a little bit more emotionally. But even though it sounds like it was an agonizing read, it was also loving and sweet and even funny like the first book. I suppose I was more emotionally invested in this sequel.
This is a must read series. It’s fun, entertaining, horrifying, imaginative, and action packed. It combines humor and romance and action in the most delicious way. I love the characters and the dynamic between everyone.
The series doesn’t seem as closely related to the world of Alice in Wonderland as I originally believed it would be. For me, that’s a positive thing, but I think it could be negative for many people. Expecting more of an obvious Wonderland tale could set you up for disappointment, which sucks, because the series is truly awesome. I like to help readers get an idea of what to expect, so I urge people to read the series without Wonderland expectations.
