Musing Mondays

 This week’s musing asks…

When you walk into a bookstore — any bookstore — what’s the first section you head toward (what draws you)?

It depends on the bookstore, but if I'm going to Barnes and Noble, I always check the shelf of best/new releases. Their shelf includes all fiction genres, so I can kind of see what catches my eye without choosing a specific genre.
If I'm shopping online, I usually check out a tab that has basically the same information.
If I'm going to the used bookstore down the street, I check the new arrival shelf. Because I help out in there a lot, I've seen what's in the regular sections numerous times, so checking the new arrival shelf is a must. There's always something new that catches my eye.

If I'm not looking for a specific book, I just kind of roam around. I read all sorts of genres, so I like the way B&N is set up. Their end caps and displays often include "If you like.... try these..."  or monthly themes and so forth. Their receipts also tell you what you may like based on what you just purchased. Information like that helps me out and lets me know about books that I may not have found out about otherwise.
